My name is Dr. Courtney Smiach, and I am a licensed physical therapist who specializes in helping active women overcome things like back pain, hip pain, urinary leaking, and pain with intercourse (just to name a few). I am here to tell you that things like these are not normal despite what society and even some practitioners have led us to believe, and that physical therapy can help you overcome these issues. I created Rebel PT because I want women to have a safe space where they feel comfortable opening up about their concerns, and a space where I feel I can provide the best one-on-one physical therapy experience possible.
As a physical therapist, I am passionate about listening to your story and helping you get to the root of your problems so that you can get back to feeling like yourself. I want patients at Rebel PT to feel empowered to take control of their health and wellness and will help to guide you every step of the way. I have dedicated many years of my career to developing my skills and expertise in both orthopedic and pelvic health physical therapy to be able to treat women with various conditions and guide you through complex situations. My goal is to help you understand what may be causing your symptoms, understand how to reduce your pain, and help you become a stronger version of yourself.

Get to Know Your Therapist
Courtney is originally from Johnstown, PA and now lives in Fuquay-Varina, NC with her husband Kyle and
two golden retrievers Willow and Boaz.
Courtney loves teaching cycling classes (at Rebel Cycle), running, weightlifting, going to rock concerts,
and hanging out at local coffee shops and breweries.
My name is Dr. Christy Payne, I am originally from Hawai’i, and after graduating from high school I decided to venture to the mainland for college where I met my husband, Jeff. The military brought us to the beautiful state of NC in 2016 and we have been blessed to call it home and have our first child here.
Since becoming a mom, I have come to realize how underserved women are when it comes to birth prep and postpartum care. As someone who has gone through this myself, I understand how important it is to be that advocate and guiding light for others, so they don’t feel like they have to walk alone through such an important time in them and their family’s lives. I want women to feel supported throughout all aspects of motherhood the moment they decide to work with our team, to the moment they decide they no longer need us.
My goal is to get to know you as a person first and foremost, take into account all aspects that contribute to your situation, and from there, tailor the perfect therapy experience for you so that you can get back to living your best life.
